Roland “Chip” Riggs is based in New York City, where he has spent the last seven years focusing his practice on representing whistleblowers. During that time, he has represented whistleblowers in a number of areas of the health care industry, including individuals reporting fraud committed by skilled nursing facilities, occupational therapy providers, hospices, ambulance providers, durable medical equipment suppliers, independent diagnostic testing facilities, and surgical centers. In addition to representing whistleblowers in the health care industry, Chip has represented whistleblowers in the construction, defense, energy, insurance, and banking industries. The frauds reported by his clients have run the gamut, and include up-coding, billing for medically unnecessary services, violations of the anti-kickback statute, Stark law violations, and violations of the Davis-Bacon Act, among others.
Chip was the co-chair of the False Claims Act Department at a nationally-recognized plaintiff’s firm. At that firm, he also litigated complex class actions arising under securities and consumer protection laws. He has been named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine for each of the past five years.
Chip graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Trinity College in Hartford, CT in 1999. He received his Juris Doctorate cum laude from Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland, OH in 2004. He is licensed to practice in the state of New York, and federal courts in New York, Washington, D.C., and Colorado.
